On May 25, 2023, the scientific research lecture “From Landscape Sketching to Artistic Creation” hosted by the College of Art and Design of the University was successfully held in the Yabuli International Conference Hall. This lecture is one of a series of scientific research activities of the College of Art and Design to launch the Russian Academician Workstation and enhance the international level of art discipline construction, with its guest speaker of Professor Andre·Drozd·Nikolaevich, Academician of the Komerovo Academy of Arts and Sciences in Russia. The lecture was hosted by Xiao Yuzhen, Vice Dean of the College of Art and Design, and Dean Zhou Yanfang, Vice Dean Liu Hui and more than 200 teachers and students of the College of Art and Design listened to the lecture, with Dr. Zhou Zhenyu translating the whole lecture.

In the course of the lecture, Professor Andre·Drozd·Nikolaevich, based on his personal sketching and creation, summarized years of creative experience, thinking and feeling, and gave an in-depth explanation of the picture composition, color expression and style formation of artistic creation in simple language, and combined with his own works of art created in Russia, France, Holland, Spain, China, Cambodia and other countries, to further discuss with teachers and students of the College of Art and Design on how to transform the realistic scenery into their own artistic expression. Finally, Professor Andre analyzed and commented on the students’ landscape sketching assignments, offered pertinent advice and suggestions, and engaged in a lively interactive discussion with teachers and students. Through this lecture, on the one hand, it promotes in-depth communication and cooperation in the field of design education between China and Russia, and at the same time, it strengthens the internationalized thinking of our school’s basic design teaching, which will have a positive and far-reaching impact on the students’ future professional learning.
